Administrative Team
Amanda
It seems like there is always at least one Aggie on our team! Amanda was born and raised in Ft. Worth and then attended Texas A&M University. Amanda says that it was the live music that brought her to the home of the Longhorns. Amanda likes to spend time outside of work supporting her husband’s country music band, shopping, and hanging out with her poodle, Bailey.
Julie
Every office needs a Kentucky woman involved! Julie grew up in Owensboro, graduated from University of Kentucky (yes, she's an avid basketball fan), and then spent some time in Nashville getting an MBA at Vanderbilt. After 14 years in the insurance industry, most recently as a General Manager for Progressive Insurance, Julie got involved (reluctantly) in Austin Dental Spa. It helped that she's married to Dr. Mark! She's been indispensable in streamlining our business processes and elevating our customer service orientation to "World Class". She's mainly involved in the marketing of ADS, process implementation and business strategy as we move forward. When she can find the "spare time", she's an awesome tennis player, a general sports nut, and she loves spending time with our 3 beautiful boys, Julian, Marcus, and Clark.
Courtney
Courtney is from Taylor, Texas, and has been in dentistry for over 10 years. After graduating from high school, she worked for an oral surgeon for six years before moving to Georgia. She found her way back to Texas in 2005 and her way to Austin Dental Spa in July 2008. Courtney has a knack for numbers and is a genius when it comes to insurance. That’s why she is a perfect fit as our Insurance and Accounts Coordinator! Outside of the office, Courtney enjoys exercising, playing sand volleyball, dancing, and hanging out with her friends and her two precious boxers, Tyson and Chloe.
Meredith
Meredith is that rare breed known as “Native Austinite”. She was lucky enough to grow up between the hill country and Barton Springs and spends as much time as she can enjoying out fair city. Meredith loves quality time with her family and their menagerie, which includes two dogs, one snake, and one fish. On weekends you can find her relaxing with a great book or trying adventurous recipes in the kitchen. She loves to entertain and hopes to entertain you at your next visit!
Assistants
Sheila
With more than 21 years of experience in the dental field, Sheila has worked for dentists all over the world including Italy, Germany, and Africa while traveling with the military. At Austin Dental Spa, we are proud to have Sheila assisting our cosmetic dentist and team. She was raised in Austin and attended Texas State Technical College in Waco before joining our team. Now that her daughter is in college pursuing her own aspirations, Sheila is able to pursue her passion for dental assisting by teaching on the weekends. Sheila enjoys singing and playing softball and her favorite quote is "Keep smilin’!"
Nicki
Nicki has been a dental assistant for over 10 years and joined our team in January 2009. She graduated from San Antonio College in 1998, and loves dental assisting! We are very excited to have her! When she’s not at work, she likes going dancing with friends and spending time with her cocker spaniel, Bebe, and her boxer, Brock. They keep her very busy!
Heather
Heather joins us from the Washington DC area and brings 9 years of dental experience with her! When she’s not taking care of patients, she spends most of her time hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, or walking her Siberian Husky, Skittles, through her neighborhood. Though she misses DC, it has not taken her long to become enchanted by the people and beauty of Austin.
Hygienists
Candice
It took us two years of cajoling to woo Candice to our office. She first subbed for us in Austin as an assistant to our cosmetic and sedation dentist while waiting to hear whether she had passed her board exam to become a licensed hygienist. Of course, she aced it, with several years' experience as an assistant before pursuing her interest in helping patients attain sparkling teeth and healthy gums. She loves all water sports, and traveling with her husband Chuck and their son Kyle. They share a house in the country with Colby, their yellow lab.
Debbie
“World-class dental hygienist” is what Dr. Sweeney calls Debbie (putting up with Mark since 1990 earned her the title). She grew up in Brenham, Texas and graduated from Wharton County Junior College’s Hygiene School. Debbie has a loyal following of several generations of families who wouldn’t let anyone else clean their teeth! She loves her dogs that she rescues, including her “significant other”, James. Debbie enjoys cooking, traveling, walking, watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and making a difference in peoples’ lives.
Cassie
Cassie is the latest addition to our fabulous hygiene team, and we are so happy to have her! She, her husband, Cody, and their dog, Daria moved here from Wichita, Kansas. They both love the outdoors and are really excited that there are so many different ways to enjoy the outdoors in Austin. Cassie also enjoys painting and crossword puzzles, especially the one in the daily newspaper!
Massage Therapists
Lori
Lori, a native Oklahoman who moved to Austin eight years ago, now calls Texas home. Lori started at Austin Dental Spa four years ago as Dr. Sweeney’s scheduling coordinator. She has since completed massage therapy school and is now a Registered Massage Therapist in our office. Outside of Austin Dental Spa, she dedicates her free time to her landscape design and irrigation business. She is making Austin greener one yard at a time!
Lotus
Lotus started out as a patient in our practice, but quickly seized the opportunity to join our Team as a massage therapist when an opening came available. Born in Amarillo and raised throughout West Texas, Lotus is a Registered Nurse with ICU and surgical experience, but liked the autonomy provided by a career in massage therapy. Her healing hands are further guided by her spiritual journey as she is heavily involved in Avitar, working to achieve Master Status. "Our clients are so diverse. I really like people, and being able to introduce them to a whole new dental experience." She also enjoys Xeroscape gardening, biking, and walking.
