Sedation Dentistry

Sedation (sleep) dentistry techniques make it possible for you to undergo dental treatment as comfortably as possible. With nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and other techniques, our dentists can perform procedures ranging from routine dental care to complex restorative treatments while you are in a state of deep relaxation. Sedation dentistry can be very helpful for patients whose fear of dental procedures may be keeping them from receiving the care they need.

TMJ Treatment

Temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ, can be the cause of chronic pain, headaches, jaw clicking and popping, difficulty opening and closing the mouth, and other debilitating symptoms. Our dentists offer a number of treatments that can reduce the effects of TMJ with successful results. One of which is BOTOX® Cosmetic. Dr. Sweeney has been specially trained to treat the symptoms of TMJ through BOTOX® injections. The treatment can offer relief from clenching or grinding your teeth, reducing discomfort associated with the joint condition.

Pinhole Surgical Technique

The Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST) is a minimally invasive method for treating gum recession. Dr. Slagter has undergone specialty training to offer this innovative procedure for patients who might otherwise require gum grafting. The PST process involves using a specially designed dental needle to create an entry point in the gums, through which a small angled tool is used to reposition the existing gum tissue lower on the tooth. Collagen strips are then utilized to support the gum tissue and stimulate collagen. PST offers patients effective gum rejuvenation results with a short recovery.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth removal is an extremely common dental procedure, as most people will need to have these “third molars” extracted at some point in their lives. That said, not everyone has to have their wisdom teeth removed, and those who do may not need all of them extracted. For those without enough space for these molars or who are already experiencing symptoms associated with their growth, removing them is fairly straightforward and can address potential complications that tend to develop.

For instance, wisdom teeth can align irregularly or even become stuck, a condition that is typically painful and can cause infection. By removing the teeth causing these issues, the ongoing complications or potential for some down the line are eliminated. Wisdom teeth removal is most often performed as people reach their late teenage years or early twenties, which is when this extra set of molars typically begins to show.
